March 2018

*** 23 March - Shop has New Stock ***

As I sit typing this, the UK has ground to a halt due to snow. On Thursday night, my weekly 200 mile commute home saw three of my four trains cancelled and the fourth delayed by 40 or so minutes. But, thanks to a combination of trains and taxis I did make it back and so was able to take delivery of the latest shipment of games going out via our 'EU Friendly Service' that were arriving on Friday - just a shame that the home I got back had no heating Frown.

And as soon as this update is done, the heroes of the indominatable LYG EU Friendly Shipping Service will don their wellies and brave the elements as they trudge through the snow to ensure that our sponsor's customers get their games.

On the gaming front things have been fairly quiet for me in March. I've reduced my CB games from two to one due to other demands - and the one we had in progress, Bittereinder from ATO, completed early in the month (with me conceding defeat). Next up is I Spartacus (Command) but I only started reading the rules yesterday.

In F2F gaming we wound up our monthly game of Three Days of Gettysburg ((GMT) - Second Day scenario ) in January. We had played for seven months and the Union position looked fairly dire.  For March we went for a couple of 5-player games of Origins of World War II (AHGC) - which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Next up, Alexander Deluxe (GMT) using Simple Great Battles of History.

The principal reason gaming has been reined back in February (and will contuinue to be in March) is that, as some of you know, we're looking to buy a house in France. We've made an offer, it has been accepted and the deposit has been paid. Expecting it to complete some time in the next six-week (hopefully the snow will be gone by then). Exciting times.

Looks like I'm not the only one who has taken it easy in February - just a few files this month.

BREXIT & Our EU Friendly Shipping

Despite the UK vote to leave the European Union, our EU Friendly Shipping Service is unlikely to be affected for several years. Remember that we offer EU Friendly Shipping Service to all of our sponsors. It reduces their costs as well as saving you money related to VAT charges. Please get your favourite publisher to talk to us about how we could work with them.

And finally...

My thanks as always to our sponsors, advertisers, contributors and visitors.
